KPK Grow Green 2023: Planting a Greener Future at East Wharf, Kemaman Port
29 Oct 2023

EPIC Berhad, through its subsidiary Konsortium Pelabuhan Kemaman Sdn Bhd (KPKSB), had hosted the 'KPK Grow Green 2023 – Tree Planting at East Wharf' programme. Taking place at the East Wharf, Kemaman Port, this corporate social responsibility programme was held in collaboration with the Terengganu State Forestry Department. It is part of the Group's initiative to support the state-level '100 Million Tree-Planting Campaign'.

Through this programme, a total of 300 'kelat paya' saplings, or else known as ‘eugenia papillosa duthie,’ were planted at the designated areas with the help of 100 volunteers from EPIC Group. This particular tree species was chosen given its suitability with the environment of the wharf, as well as for its high durability and easy to maintained features.

Speaking at the programme, KPKSB General Manager Haji Ashari Mohammad shared that the main goal of the tree planting effort is to enhance the green areas around the East Wharf managed by KPKSB.

KPKSB Chairman YB Datuk Haji Ahmad Amzad Mohamed @ Hashim, who was also present at the tree planting session, recognised the unwavering commitment showcased by everyone in bringing this initiative to life and expressed his full support for the Group's efforts in creating more green spaces, fostering awareness of the shared responsibility to care for the environment.

Also present at the tree planting programme were EPIC Group Chief Executive Officer Encik Ridzuan Ali, EPIC Group Chief Operating Officer Haji Muhtar Suhaili, EPIC Group Chief Financial Officer Encik Wan Mohd Azilah Wan Abdullah, KPKSB Director Haji Shamsul Bahri Serkawi, EPIC Group General Managers and representatives from the Terengganu State Forestry Department.
