East Coast Energy (ECE) 2025 officially opened its door yesterday at the Taman Tamadun Islam Convention Centre, bringing together over 1,000 participants to talk about one big goal; a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for Malaysia’s East Coast.
Organised by the Terengganu State Government and Terengganu Petroleum Council with the support of Terengganu Inc (Strategic Partner), EPIC Berhad (Corporate Partner), and PETRONAS (Knowledge Partner), the two-day conference brings together policymakers, energy leaders, investors, and innovators who share a common goal to shape a low-carbon, resilient, and forward-looking energy landscape for the region.
The summit was graced and officiated by Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Muhammad Ismail ibni Al-Wathiqu Billah Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, Yang Di-Pertuan Muda Terengganu, alongside YAB Dato' Seri Ir. Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, Chief Minister of Terengganu. Also in attendance were YB Dato’ Nara Setia, State Secretary of Terengganu; YB Dato' Haji Mohd Azmi Mohamad Daham, State Financial Officer of Terengganu; YBhg. Dato’ Tun Ahmad Faisal Tun Abdul Razak, Steering Committee Chairman of East Coast Energy 2025; YBhg. Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong, Senior Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), PETRONAS; YBhg. Dato’ Haji Burhanuddin Hilmi Mohamed @ Harun, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Terengganu Inc; Dr. Ts. Muhtar Suhaili, Group Chief Executive Officer of EPIC Berhad; and Ir. Mohd Yusri Mohamed Yusof, Senior Vice President, Project Technology and HSSE, PETRONAS.
Themed “Innovating Energy, Elevating East Coast” and centred on four core pillars comprising Energising Local Communities, Energy Security and Innovation, Accelerating the Energy Transition, and Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), the summit features six forums designed to drive actionable outcomes. An energy-focused exhibition is taking place alongside the conference, showcasing the latest in renewables, digital solutions, and carbon management.
Beyond the business of energy, this event champions community well-being through collaborations with government agencies, private clinics, and university volunteers. As part of the Community Outreach Programme, attendees, including local residents, benefit from complimentary basic health check-ups and dental care. Another highlight is the Young Leaders Programme, which connects students with experienced mentors in the energy sector.
With strong opening momentum, ECE 2025 is off to a promising start, creating space for collaboration and real conversations about the future of energy.
