The International Golden Monsoon Ride (IGMR) 2023 gears up to make a splash at its third championship during this year’s monsoon season in December, slated to attract more than 1,000 local and international participants. This third edition of the cycling tournament, part of the Terengganu Inc Challenge Series, is spearheaded by Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Berhad (EPIC Berhad) with full support from Terengganu Incorporated Sdn Bhd (TERENGGANU INC) Ladang Rakyat Trengganu Sdn Bhd (LRTSB), Golden Pharos Berhad (GPB), TDM Berhad (TDM) and Syarikat Air Terengganu Sdn. Bhd (SATU). It is also hosted in collaboration with event partner Terengganu Polygon Cycling Team (TSG) and official media Husa Network Sdn Bhd (Manis FM).
Scheduled to take place at Teluk Kalong, Kemaman, on 16 December 2023, this cycling event features 12 40-kilometer competition categories with a total cash prize of RM31,000, catering to local and international participants of all levels of expertise. These include 'Men Elite Open', 'Men Open', 'Men Junior', 'Master A', 'Master B', 'Master C', 'Women Open', 'Women Master', 'Heavy Weight', 'Fat Bike Open', 'E-Bike Open', and 'Gravel Bike Open'. There is also a 48-kilometre ‘On-Road Fun Ride’, with a special appearance by TSG cyclists, for those who are looking for a leisurely group ride.
The highly anticipated return of IGMR was announced at a soft launch ceremony officiated by State Youth, Sports, and NGO Development Committee Chairman YB Haji Hishamuddin Abdul Karim. Also in attendance were State Youth, Sports, and NGO Development Deputy Committee Chairman YB Mohd Fadhli Rahimi Zulkifli, Kuala Terengganu District Officer and Land Administrator Encik Azran Amin Mazlan, EPIC Group Management Committee, heads of government departments, and TIG heads of companies.
In addition to the cash prize, this year’s event also comes with exciting lucky draw prizes valued at over RM120,000. The main draw prize, a brand-new 'Perodua Myvi 1.3 Auto', is set to be a coveted highlight of the event.
