EPIC Berhad Champhions Coastal Sustainability Through “EPIC Jom Bersih 2025” and “EPIC Grow Green 2025”
04 Dec 2025

EPIC Berhad  organised two environmental initiatives, namely “EPIC Jom Bersih 2025”, a coastal cleanup activity, and “EPIC Grow Green 2025”, a tree planting programme, at Pantai Batu Buruk 2, Kuala Terengganu, reinforcing the Group’s commitment to coastal sustainability, community empowerment, and environmental stewardship.

Held in collaboration with Majlis Bandaraya Kuala Terengganu (MBKT), the programmes brought together 130 volunteers from EPIC Berhad, MBKT Landscape Department, Terengganu Inc Group, Green Ranger UMT, and Urus Setia Penerangan Darul Iman (UPDI), all united in their mission to support ongoing efforts to protect and restore Terengganu’s coastal ecosystem. Also present, Corporate Communication & HSSEQ General Manager, Encik Rusdi Ngah, and Legal & Secretarial General Manager, Puan Fairuz Idris. Pantai Batu Buruk, one of Kuala Terengganu’s main recreational beaches, has long been a priority location for environmental conservation.

The day began with the “EPIC Jom Bersih 2025” coastal cleanup, where volunteers collected various types of waste including single-use plastics, discarded materials, and litter washed ashore by monsoon currents. The activity resulted in approximately 250 kilograms of waste, with plastic and glass bottles as well as aluminium cans segregated for recycling by Green Ranger UMT.

Following the cleanup, EPIC Berhad carried out the “EPIC Grow Green 2025” tree planting programme. A total of 100 Casuarina Equisetifolia saplings, also known as “rhu pantai”, were planted at selected areas along the beach. The species was chosen for its ability to reduce coastal erosion, stabilise sandy soil, and act as a natural wind barrier, contributing to long-term shoreline resilience.

EPIC Berhad wishes to express its appreciation to all partners and volunteers, including those from TERENGGANU INC, TDM Berhad, Syarikat Air Terengganu Sdn Bhd (SATU), Golden Pharos Berhad, Primula Beach Hotel, and GPQ Sdn Bhd, for their support and collaboration. The Group will continue to support environmental programmes that complement state-led conservation efforts and encourage communities to take active roles in protecting natural resources.
