EPIC Berhad yesterday continued its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, namely the “EPIC Jom Bersih 2024”, this time at the Ma' Daerah Turtle Sanctuary in collaboration with WWF-Malaysia, NGO Plastic Gang Ija (GPI), Terengganu Fisheries Department, and PETRONAS IRSO.
Starting as early as 8:00 am, the programme received an encouraging response with 120 volunteers showing up to provide support in cleaning the coastal areas around the sanctuary, which also serves as a landing site for turtles.
Also in attendance were Kemaman District Fisheries Department Head Encik Abd Halim Mat Noor, EPIC Group Corporate Communication and Security General Manager Encik Rusdi Ngah, GPI Chairman Encik Zulkefli Sarji, and WWF Malaysia Terengganu Project Team Head Puan Noor Azariyah Mohtar.
The collective effort of volunteers resulted in an impressive haul of 459 kilograms of waste, with 172 kg being plastic bottles earmarked for recycling by GPI.
