In line with its steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability and community well-being, EPIC Berhad today organised the “EPIC Jom Bersih 2026” programme at Pantai Air Tawar, reinforcing its ongoing efforts to promote environmental stewardship through community-driven action.
Held in collaboration with the Parliamentary and State Constituency Community Service Centres in Besut, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), and NGO Geng Plastik Ija (GPI), the programme brought together 400 volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including representatives from government agencies, UniSZA students, Besut District Council, local communities, and EPIC Berhad employees, all united in a collective effort to clean the coastal stretch of Pantai Air Tawar, one of Besut’s key tourist attractions.
This community-driven initiative also saw the participation of local leaders, including Besut Parliament Member, YB Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh; ADUN Kota Putera, YB Haji Mohd Nurkhuzaini Ab Rahman; ADUN Kuala Besut, YB Haji Azbi Salleh; ADUN Jertih, YB Dr. Riduan Mohd Nor; as well as ADUN Hulu Besut, YB Mohd Husaimi Hussin, who joined volunteers on-site from early morning to support the beach clean-up activities.
During the clean-up activity, participants collected approximately 1.3 tonnes of waste and debris, including 375 kg of plastic bottles, washed ashore or left behind along the beach. The volume of waste underscores the urgent need to further strengthen public education and awareness on shared environmental responsibility and proper waste management practices.
“EPIC Jom Bersih 2026” symbolises the collective commitment of various stakeholders in preserving the environment as a shared heritage. To date, EPIC Berhad, together with its partners, has successfully collected a total of 2.4 tonnes of waste through several beach clean-up initiatives across Terengganu. The Group remains committed to strengthening its sustainability and social responsibility agenda as part of its ongoing efforts to create lasting positive impact on communities and the environment.
